Typical price: £400
What is it: High-end, closed-back headphones
What we think: Blistering sonic detail across the entire audio spectrum make these great reference headphones, but some may crave stronger bass

We like:
Superb sound quality; transparent sound; stunning detail across the board; bright without being harsh; great design; decent construction
We don't like:
Cloth-wrapped cabling; low-end presence isn't hugely prominent
Also known as:
ATHW1000
You might also need:
3.5mm adaptor
CNET.co.uk judgement:
These are an exceptional pair of reference headphones for the price with sonic accuracy across the board and brutal detail from upper low end to the top of the high end. Only deep bass fans will find fault with the subtle bass presence. Overall, these are fantastic reference cans, ideal for home mixing
