What is it: A satellite receiver for free-to-air HDTV channels
What we think: Early birds, HDTV enthusiasts and hobbyists will love the Humax HDCI-2000. Picture quality is excellent, as are the bragging rights of being one of the first to watch the BBC in HD

We like:
Impressive picture quality, leading-edge philosophy
We don't like:
Proprietary firmware update software is Windows PC only
You might also need:
You'll need a professionally installed satellite dish and, for full effect, an HDTV
CNET.co.uk judgement:
It's been a while since we've had so much fun getting a product to work. The HDCI-2000 is a great bit of kit that will pique your interest in how satellites and HDTV work. There's not much to watch at the moment, but we'll bet on that changing soon
